Life gives you lemons, they’re bitter little buggers but you still have to make lemonade. The trick for me is in finding the sugar

Upcoming Shows

“It is such a pleasure to create a piece of art for someone. I feel very privileged to be invited to do so, to engage in a moment of their lives and design an image to capture it”.

A love of nature and the beauty of the Irish countryside greatly inspires Ruth’s work.

“I am influenced by the diversity of the wild landscapes of Ireland, it’s ancient sites and mystical heritage. I feel a strong connection to my Celtic roots which can be seen in a lot of my artwork”.

The magic of Irish myths and legends along with the beauty of Celtic design is often channeled into her pieces, particularly her slate art which incorporates Ogham script.

“I am very grateful to still have the ability to continue my creative journey and hope to do so for as long as I possibly can”.

Testimonials

Ruth your work always brings a smile to my face. A sense of delight, wonder, intrigue, mystery, resonance, melancholy and sometimes mayhem.

When you own an art piece by Ruth you know you have something really special.

An elegant piece painted on sturdy black slate hangs in our kitchen, the heart of our home. It is a nighttime depiction of the Hawthorn Tree under a golden moon with a white dove in the top left. The Hawthorn trees were believed to be representative of love and protection.

The Ogham alphabet is the first form of writing used in the Irish language. It is known as the Gaelic Tree alphabet as half the letters are those of trees. Written from the bottom up, starting at the root as the tree is climbed, is the word ‘Fáilte’ meaning ‘Welcome’.

A timeless piece that anchors an essence of warmth and rigor hangs proudly and welcome all who enter our home.

I was introduced to Ruth from a friend of mine who had some of Ruth’s work in her home and office. I commissioned Ruth to work on two pieces for my home. Her attention to detail was impeccable and I was delighted to receive her work. A slate piece with Ogham script and a beautiful painting of the epic story of the Táin. I am absolutely delighted with her work.

Daithi, Meath

I met Ruth when she was volunteering at a charity fundraiser for Alzheimer’s and MS back in 2018. Our first collaboration was for The Fairgreen community Garden. I was building Stickmen garden decor and asked her to provide a memorial mural for the garden. Ruth created a unique and mesmerizing piece of art titled “Moongate” and kindly donated it to the Fairgreen Community Garden. It was greatly received and much appreciated. Since then Ruth has donated her beautiful Art to other fundraising projects such as Special Olympics, a memorial garden for childhood Cancer and a local Respite Centre, Annalee View.

I also have several pieces of her Art in my home. An oil painting of Belfast Lough, which captured memories I’d shared. A chest with a painting where again Ruth captured the spirit of my “life story” in her beautiful art work and 3 pieces of Slate-Art. Aswell as the Ogham alphabet speaking of our ancestry & culture Ruth’s use of Celtic symbols & her unique style give a mystical quality to each piece of Slate-Art that touches the very soul & invites the onlooker into the mystery of eternity.

I commissioned a piece of artwork from Ruth as a gift to my mother for Christmas. I received a Disney themed piece of Slate-Art which was of a high calibre and extraordinarily aesthetically pleasing.  I would most certainly be inclined to repurchase from her in the future.

Jane, Leitrim

I knew Ruth for years, I was speaking to her about my good friend who lost her best friend.

I really wanted to give my friend something to help her. I had this idea of my friend and her horses with her two young boys and her husband.

Her late friend love to sailing. Ruth straight away had ideas to make this special idea become real. She communicated her drafts to get the details perfect so it really looked like a family portrait. The sailboat in the distance represents her late friend but reminds her, she’s always there behind her.

My friend has this picture in her hall and loves knowing the story behind it.

I’ll be forever grateful to Ruth for her kindness and understanding during our little creative journey

Ruth has made several pieces of Art for me and each one has been a delight. I commissioned personalised gifts for family, special occasion gifts for birthdays, wedding and anniversary in the form of watercolour paintings and wooden wall Art.

Ruth was able to capture the sentiment in her work and give me a beautiful and unique piece of Art each time which will be cherished
